Ingredients

  • 2large bramley apples.peeled and cored
  • 1/2 halflemon juice only
  • 150 gbutter / marg
  • 85 gbrown sugar
  • 85 gblack treacle or golden syrup
  • 225 gporridge oats
  • 1/2 tspcinnamon

    Preheat oven to 190c

  2. 2

    Make apple puree by slicing the apples into small saucepan with lemon juice and dash of water. Bring to boil and simmer for 10 mins until soft. Using either a hand blender or fork mash the apple to a soft puree

  3. 3

    Melt butter sugar and treacle in pan but do not let it boil. Stir in oats and cinnamon and pinch of salt.

  4. 4

    Press half mixture into a 20cm sandwich tin. Spread the apple apple on top then cover with remaining flapjack mixture qnd bake for 25 mins.

    Remove from oven and mark into slices but leave to cool before you remove from tin

hi all - I'm sure my account will.look weird for the moment. my mum passed away in 2020 and until.now I couldn't face going through her recipes. all her hand written cards I've just combined with my own. so for now I'll input them in here to reduce the paper etc down and then as I slowly cook them ill update and include pictures. some will be a bit unknown at the start as mum didn't always complete fully ! bare with me

Nice twist to flapjacks , need to be eaten soon after cooking as the remainder went soggy following day. Might try using Apple butter. Thanks for the recipe.
