Jerusalem Artichokes or Sunchokes are no way related to the Artichokes or Jerusalem in particular. It's a tall native Sunflower with edible tubers and has a great crop potential. These are also called Earth Apples. These tubers look like a cross between Potatoes and Ginger. They are versatile and can be relished in so many ways. Many chefs have used them extensively in both savoury and sweet dishes. They have a sweet nutty flavour with a hint of Vanilla.
They became popular in Europe, especially in France where it's still a common menu item today. The name probably must have come from the original Italian settlers who called them Girasole meaning Sunflower in Italian.

These are no way related to either Artichokes or Jerusalem. The name has been such that many even don't know about it. But of course it's a well known one in the Europe. And thanks to the exports and the cultivation techniques, many varieties of Vegetables and Fruits are now made available in different Countries thus providing and opening up new avenues in Agriculture and farming methods. It's called as Hathipich in India.

Homemaker by choice and a passionate cook by heart. An aspiring cook who actually never knew anything about Cooking until i became a mother myself. With Motherhood came the responsibilities as well and this was the turning point in my life.I started to learn the ABC's of cooking, taking help from my mother and my MIL. And time just flew. I spread my wings higher and higher. With my love for excellence and innovation, i stepped into a world of homecooks with my exposure to Cookpad one fine day on the social media. And there was no looking back since then and i have not only shared recipes here on this wonderful platform but also have made some lovely friends as well. Today iam successful because of my hard work, dedication and loads of good wishes of my family and my kids in particular.
