Ingredients

45 mins
65 cookies 🍪
  • 1 cupunsalted butter 🧈
  • 3/4 cupgranulated sugar
  • 1large egg 🥚
  • 1/8 tspsalt 🧂
  • 1 tspbaking powder
  • 21/4 cupsplain flour
  • Red liquid food colour
  • Green liquid food colour
  • Yellow liquid food colour
  • For white cookies 🍪 I have used 1 tsp vanilla extract & 1 tsp almond extract
  • For red cookies 🍪, I have used strawberry extract-(few drops)
  • For yellow cookies 🍪, I have used mango extract- (few drops)
  • For green cookies, I have used peppermint extract- (few drops)
  • Sprinkles
  • Note: in traditional spritz cookies the use of extract are vanilla extract & almond extract, but I have a little twist so I used different types of extracts in my recipe, but it depends on your time
  • Or use vanilla & almond extract only, the way it is used in traditional recipe, both methods are very tasty, delicious too, You can use also gel icing colours as well, just omit liquid food colour
  • Note: to decorate the spritz cookies, I used a different types of sprinkles but the options are endless, you can add chocolate chips or add a chocolate drizzle

Steps

  1. 1

    Preheat oven to 350°F (180°c), line a nonstick parchment paper on baking trays, set aside, in a large bowl 🥣 mix plain flour, baking powder and salt 🧂 mix well and set aside.

  2. 2

    Cream the butter 🧈 and sugar together in a large bowl 🥣, beat on medium speed until light and fluffy, for about 4 mins, you should be able to see the mixture lighten in colour and get creamy texture, add egg 🥚 and mix until well combined.

    For traditional method: add vanilla extract & almond extract, add flour mixture and mix until dough is combined (do not over mix) if colouring the cookies 🍪, divide it into parts, I used white, red, green and yellow, so I divide into four parts

  4. 4

    Use liquid food colour/ gel icing colour to colour the dough and mix well, add one colour dough into cookie press, hold the cookie press, perpendicular to your parchment paper and press out the cookies, decorate the cookies with sprinkles if desired, bake cookies 🍪 for 6-9 mins, remove from the oven and allow to cool for 5 mins

    Before transferring to wire rack to cool completely and serve.

    For second method: when you have add flour mixture mix well, then divide into three parts, add red liquid food colour/ gel icing colour with strawberry extract and mix well, use same method for green cookies and yellow cookies. For white cookies follow the method 3, and for colour cookies use method 4

    Note: I have given second method, if you desired to use with different types of extracts but if you don't want it, use same traditional method for white cookies and for coloured cookies
