Here’s an excellent recipe for homemade croissants with a delicious light béchamel sauce. I made 16 croissants with this recipe. They freeze very well, so you can store them in your freezer.

Here’s an excellent recipe for homemade croissants with a delicious light béchamel sauce. I made 16 croissants with this recipe. They freeze very well, so you can store them in your freezer.

Add all the béchamel ingredients to a saucepan. Heat gently, whisking constantly, until the sauce thickens. Set the béchamel aside.

Meanwhile, slice the store-bought croissants in half. Spread some béchamel on the bottom half of each croissant. Cut each slice of ham in half and place it on top of the béchamel inside the croissant. Add a little more béchamel on top of the ham.

Sprinkle some shredded Swiss cheese over the ham. Close the croissant. You can sprinkle a little more cheese on top before baking. Season with salt and pepper.

Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Bake the croissants for about 20 minutes, watching closely, until they are golden brown.
