Steps
- 1
Brew strong coffee. I use a paper drip method, but any method is fine. If you like it sweeter, add about 2 tablespoons of sugar at this stage.
- 2
Add the unflavored gelatin and mix well. Let it cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until set.
- 3
Once the coffee jelly is cold and firm, lightly break it up with a fork and gently add it to chilled milk.
- 4
Sweeten to taste with simple syrup. For extra richness, add whipped cream or sweetened condensed milk. You can also top with ice cream.
- 5
Use about 3 tablespoons of coffee jelly for a firmer texture. I love this bouncy feel—it's quite packed!
- 6
With about 2 tablespoons of coffee jelly, it has a milkier taste.
- 7
I was inspired by the 'Cafe au Lait Tapioca' I had at a bakery.
