Chocolate Brioche Rolls

A recent discovery because I didn't want to get involved in making 'chocolatines' or chocolate croissants since puff pastry takes a long time to make and I'm not patient enough!

Steps
- 1
Dissolve the yeast in a little warm water and 1/2 teaspoon of sugar for 10 minutes.
- 2
Meanwhile, mix the flour, salt, and sugar.
- 3
Add the yeast and milk. Knead for 10 minutes. I did it by hand, it's a workout!
- 4
Add the softened butter and knead for about 20 minutes (still by hand!).
- 5
You'll get a smooth, non-sticky dough. Let it rise for 1 hour or more, depending on room temperature.
- 6
Punch down the dough, roll it out with a rolling pin to form a rectangle about 20 inches by 8 inches, then cut into 6 equal strips.
- 7
Place a chocolate bar or chips at the end of the strip, roll twice, place another bar or chips, and finish rolling.
- 8
Place the rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, making sure the seam is underneath (you can seal with water if desired) and let rise for 40 minutes.
- 9
Preheat the oven to 430°F.
- 10
Glaze with the beaten egg yolk/sugar mixture and bake for 15 minutes at 390°F until golden. Enjoy!
