Make a well in the flour and add the remaining ingredients in the center. Mix and knead to form a dough.

Knead until the dough no longer sticks to your hands or the work surface. Place in a bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise until doubled in size.

Shape the dough into a ring, brush with beaten egg, decorate as desired, and add the sugar crust. Bake at 350°F (180°C) for 25 to 35 minutes, or until golden brown.

Let cool and sprinkle with a little powdered sugar.
