I wanted to make japchae affordably.
Steps

Cut the vermicelli into halves, and julienne the carrot, chives, and leek into 2-inch pieces.

Add sesame oil to a frying pan and stir-fry the ground meat over high heat. Once the meat changes color, add garlic, leek, and carrot.

Add sake and water to step 2, bring to a boil, then add sugar and soy sauce. Next, add the vermicelli and simmer while mixing with chopsticks to coat with the sauce.

Once the vermicelli is colored, add the chives and stir-fry until wilted. It's ready to serve. Sprinkle sesame seeds if desired.
