The origin of this recipe:
When I crave the taste of sukiyaki but don't want to go through the hassle of using a hot pot, I make this sukiyaki-style stew.

This can be easily made in a saucepan!
If you have leftovers, you can add an egg and make a delicious bowl the next day (*^_^*).

Add sesame oil to the pan and fry the shirataki noodles, cut into quarters. (I don't tie them, but you can if you prefer.)
- 6
Frying the shirataki noodles helps remove any odor and allows them to absorb flavors better. You can also pour boiling water over them first to remove any odor.
- 7
Add 2/3 cup dashi stock to the pan, remove any scum, and once it boils, add the grilled tofu, onion, and the ingredients marked with an asterisk. Simmer for about 10 minutes.
- 8
If you have time before eating, stop here and add the meat just before serving, simmering for 7-8 minutes. (Overcooking the meat can make it tough.)
- 9
(This is a photo of the bowl.)
For the bowl, add the seasonings, taste, and add 2 tablespoons of mentsuyu if desired. - 10

An Economical Dish: Pork, Bean Sprouts, and Tofu Sukiyaki-don Rice Bowl An Economical Dish: Pork, Bean Sprouts, and Tofu Sukiyaki-don Rice Bowl
You might question using bean sprouts with sukiyaki flavors, but they really absorb those flavors well and become really tasty. This is a favorite in our family. It's kind to your wallet too, so it's your friend when your household budget is tight. It's a very easy and quick recipe. The tofu absorbs the flavors faster if you crumble it up with your hands, and you don't have to cut it either so I recommend it.The flavoring is rather sweet, so please adjust to your taste.
