Sukiyaki Warishita (Sukiyaki Sauce Base)

My whole family loves this!
Self-rating: ★★★★★
About this recipe:
I used to just make this sauce base without much thought. My husband said it was too sweet, so I experimented a bit (haha). When I made it at my parents’ house, my younger brother really liked it. I think it’s a bit sweeter than most people’s versions.

Steps
- 1
Add all the seasonings to a bowl. (This is your sukiyaki sauce base.)
- 2
Arrange the ingredients in a pot as you like.
- 3
Pour in the sauce base.
- 4
Simmer.
- 5
If making 3–4 servings, add the sauce base to the bowl in batches according to the recipe amounts. Don’t prepare all the sugar and soy sauce at once.
- 6
For a more authentic method, set aside the sugar and first sauté it with the meat. Then arrange the other ingredients and add the rest of the sauce base (without the sugar).
