Ingredients

  • 1 cupdried black eyed peas
  • 1 cupdried lentils
  • 4-5 cupsunsalted chicken or beef broth
  • 4garlic cloves
  • 1onion
  • 1 cupham or bacon
  • 1/4 cupgreen bell pepper
  • 3 teaspoonscumin powder
  • Handfulfresh baby spinach
  • 1 Tablespoonbalsamic vinegar

Steps

  1. 1

    Soak peas and lentils at least half an hour (1-3 hours is better) then rinse and discard floaters

  2. 2

    Combine all ingredients except spinach in slow cooker and cook on high for 5-6 hours until peas are soft

  3. 3

    Throw in spinach half an hour before turning off slow cooker
