Use about this much cabbage.

Cut the cabbage into thick shreds.

Boil the cabbage in plenty of water for 5 to 6 minutes, or until it reaches your preferred tenderness. Drain well in a colander and set aside.

In a large bowl, combine the seasonings and 1 1/4 cups water (300 ml). Microwave at 500W for 3 to 4 minutes. (I usually don't cover it with plastic wrap, but you can if you prefer.)

Remove from the microwave, add black pepper and chili oil, and stir well. Adjust the soup temperature to your liking.

Arrange the cabbage in a bowl, add your favorite toppings, and enjoy!
