Raw Banana Poriyal is a perfect choice for Breakfast on any given day. Poriyal is a South Indian Vegetarian dish made with simple ingredients. It's a Tamil word for any fried or sometimes sauteed Vegetable dish. It is called Palya in Kannada, Vepudu in Telugu and Mezhukurapatti in Malayalam. Many Vegetables can be used for this simple yet a flavourful dish like Okra or Bhindi, Cauliflower, Cabbage, Raw Banana etc. It is made by shallow frying diced or shredded Vegetables along with spices.
This is my take on this beautiful looking dish by incorporating coloured Bell Peppers thereby making it a great medley of flavours and colours. Not to forget the amazing aroma of the Vegetables. It not only looks colourful and appealing. It is equally delicious and desirable.
This delectable one pot dish is loved by many for Breakfast but it can be used with simple boiled Rice and some Gravy too. It's a easily done dish with no hassle. This version of Poriyal would surely be loved by all. Giving it a try would never let you down. Let's get started.

Steps
- 1
Wash, peel and cut the raw bananas into small cubes. Set aside in salted water.
- 2
Heat oil and add black mustard seeds. Let them crackle before adding curry leaves and dry red chillies. Also add a pinch of asafoetida or hing.
- 3
Add finely chopped onion to the pan. Saute it well until translucent and soft. Add chopped bell peppers too. Saute for a minute more.
- 4
To this add the raw banana cubes. Add turmeric and coriander powders. Also add chopped green chillies or red chilli powder. It's one's own choice.
- 5
Cook until done. Adjust salt accordingly. Serve it piping hot right away alongside rotis or chapatis or phulkas too. Enjoy!
