This recipe also works well if you substitute the beans with peas . You can use green beans with ham as a part of a tapas meal, as a starter or as a main course.

Wash the beans and top and tail them removing any stringy bits and boil for about 8 mins.

Prepare the pepper by sprinkling with oil and baking for about 30 mins in a preheated oven (180°C/350°F) then remove from the oven, allow to cool, remove the skin and and seeds inside, cut into strips and set aside.

Heat the oil in a frying pan and sauté the ham or bacon (cut into cubes) with the sliced garlic.

Add the beans, red pepper, chopped fresh parsley and salt and continue frying for a few more mins before serving.
