Hibiscus tea is an herbal tea made from hibiscus flowers. The drink is known for its red color, sour taste and vitamin C content.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM) is observed every October to create awareness about breast cancer. The month highlights the importance of early detection, diagnosis and treatment and the need to support people with breast cancer.
A person with breast cancer should avoid alcohol, over-processed foods, undercooked foods and red and processed meats. Eating a balanced diet rich in fruits and vegetables & low in sugar and saturated fat may reduce the risk of breast cancer.

Ingredients

10-12 minutes
1 serving
  1. 2Hibiscus flower
  2. 1 cupWater
  3. 2 cloves(lavang)
  4. 1green cardamom
  5. 1cinnamon stick (2 inch)
  6. 1 teaspoonHoney
  7. 1 teaspoonlemon juice

Steps

  1. 1

    Remove calyx (green part), stamen (yellow seeds part) of Hibiscus flowers. Remove the flower petals and wash petals under running water

    Boil 1 cup of water in a saucepan over high heat. Add cinnamon stick, cloves and cardamom.

    Then add the hibiscus flower petals. Simmer on medium heat for 8-10 minutes.

    The colors of the flowers steep into the water. Hibiscus tea will turn color dark red. Turn off the gas. Strain the tea and fill the tea cup.

    Add honey and lemon juice. After adding lemon juice, the colour of tea will change to light red.

    Stir well with a spoon and serve it hot or cold.

    Note:- Although hibiscus tea has no caffeine, it is acidic so drinking it on an empty stomach can be bad.
