Yam porridge / Asaro
A simple recipe to make a tasty yam porridge

Steps

Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat.

.Add onion, garlic, and ginger; stir until the onion is fried

Add the yam cubes and stir well.

. Add dry or smoked fish (if using) and stir well.

Add seasoning cubes, crayfish, salt, and pepper; stir well.

Pour in water and bring to boil.

Reduce heat to low and simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until the yams are tender.

Use a wooden spoon or masher to mash some of the yams and thicken the porridge.

If using tomato paste, fresh tomatoes stir it in add in the alefo or ugu during the last 5 minutes of cooking.

Serve hot and enjoy!!

Tips
- Use high-quality yams for the best flavor.
- Adjust the amount of spices to your taste.
- You can add other ingredients like fish, shrimp, or vegetables(Ugu, alefo) to suit your taste.
