Ingredients

Serves 2 servings
  1. 7 ozthinly sliced beef (chicken or pork is also fine)
  2. 1 block(about 10 oz) of your favorite tofu
  3. 1/2onion, thinly sliced
  4. 6-inch piece of green onion (cut diagonally)
  5. Add mushrooms, napa cabbage, shirataki noodles, or other ingredients as you like
  6. 1 tablespoonvegetable oil or beef fat if available
  7. Sauce
  8. 3 tablespoonssoy sauce
  9. 3 tablespoonsmirin
  10. 3 tablespoonssake
  11. 2 tablespoonssugar
  12. 1/2 cupwater or kombu water (see kombu water recipe ID:24380172)

Steps

  1. 1

    Cut the tofu into bite-sized pieces. Cut as you like.

    Thinly slice the onion and cut the green onion diagonally.

    Heat vegetable oil or beef fat in a pan and sauté the onion until it softens.

    Spread the beef in the pan and cook until the color changes.

    Once the beef changes color, add the sauce ingredients, bring to a boil over medium heat, then simmer on low for 1 minute.

    Add the tofu and simmer on low for a few minutes to let the sauce soak in.

    Add the green onion and simmer for a few more minutes.
