This is al delicious no onion garlic, farali potato fritters which can be eaten while fasting during Navratri. These are crisp potato patties served with green chutney and a perfect snack to be relished with a cup of tea .

This is al delicious no onion garlic, farali potato fritters which can be eaten while fasting during Navratri. These are crisp potato patties served with green chutney and a perfect snack to be relished with a cup of tea .

Peel and grate the potatoes with a grater.Soak and wash the grated potatoes in a strainer for 3-4 times to remove starch.Smear salt and wring out excess water released.Transfer to a mixing bowl.Add arrowroot, spices, salt, green chillies and coriander.Roasted peanuts or half crushed cashewnuts may be added but optional.

Mix nicely to form a smooth, non-sticky dough.To shape the tikki, rub a teaspoon of ghee in your palms.Take a scoop of potato mixture.Shape into flat, round patties of 1/2 inch thickness.Arrange them on a plate.Heat oil or ghee in a non-stick pan and fry the tikkis/ fritters flipping till golden brown on both sides and crisp. Serve them with green chutney.

For green chutney: Chop 1/2 cup coriander leaves and 1/4 cup mint leaves.Add 1/2 inch ginger,1 green chilli, 1 tbsp curd and 1 tsp lemon juice.Also add 1/4 tsp roasted cumin powder, 1/4 tsp rock salt and 1/4 tsp sugar.Blend all to make a smooth paste.Serve with Crispy Grated Potato Fritters.
