Ingredients

3-4 people
  1. Candied Walnuts
  2. .5 cupwater
  3. 1.5 tablespoonsbutter
  4. .5 cupbrown sugar
  5. .5 cupwalnuts
  6. Sauce
  7. 3 tablespoonsKewpie mayo
  8. 2 tablespoonscondensed milk
  9. 2 teaspoonslemon juice
  10. Fried Shrimp
  11. 1 lbShrimp (~20 to 25 medium pieces)
  12. .5 teaspoonSalt
  13. .5 teaspoonPepper
  14. 1 teaspoongarlic powder
  15. .5 cupTempura Mix
  16. .25 cupCornstarch
  17. .5 cupSparkling Water (add more/less depending on consistency)

Cooking Instructions

    Add water, butter, and brown sugar to a sauce pan on medium to high heat. Once boiling, add in walnuts for 10-12 minutes until it thickens.

    Pour onto parchment paper and let cool.

    Mix together Kewpie mayo, condensed milk, and lemon juice in a bowl and set aside.

    Season peeled shrimp with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.

  5. 5

    Mix together tempura mix, cornstarch, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and sparkling water. You want a thick but runny consistency.

    Add the shrimp to the tempura batter making sure to fully coat it.

    Heat up oil (I used peanut oil) to 375°F

  8. 8

    Fry the shrimp in small batches for 1 minute per side. Let cool on a rack.

    Double fry the shrimp for 1 minute total.

  10. 10

    Mix together fried shrimp and sauce. Top with candied walnuts.
