Yam is also known as Elephant Foot Yam, Suran or Jimikand. They have a mildly sweet flavour, resembles sweet potatoes but both are different. Can be cooked in various ways including boiling, roasting, grilling and frying. They are often overlooked because of their rough, bark like skin but they are good source of Carbohydrates and Fiber.

Peel and wash Yam thoroughly with water.

Cut into peices. Pressure cook for 3 to 4 whistles until it turns tender.

In a mixing bowl, add in all the spices - Black pepper powder, red chilli powder, garam masala, turmeric, ginger garlic paste, Curd and lemon.

Mix well and add boiled yam making sure it is well coated with all the spices.

Heat oil in a wok. Add yam and fry for few minutes until it turns little crisp.

Garnish with spring onions and enjoy!
