Black sesame paste

I always thought of this as an Asian peanut butter - has a nutty and toasty flavor, and can be used in a sweet or savory context. If you have a food processor you probably won’t need the oil, just some patience and time.

Steps
- 1
In a dry pan, toast the black sesame seeds over medium heat for 5 minutes. Occasionally move the seeds around for even heat distribution and to prevent burning.
- 2
Blend the toasted seeds into a paste. A food processor works best, but I used an immersion blender which still worked.
- 3
Add the coconut oil to help combine everything. You might not need this if you’re using a food processor.
- 4
Add to an airtight container and enjoy on toast, desserts, or in drinks!
- 5
Use this recipe for my black sesame rice krispy treats!
