On the occasion of Pryushan Mahaparva, a special recipe made from chickpea flour, Vakili Vismay is a delicious and nutritious dish that can be served with dal-chawal or enjoyed on its own.
Steps
- 1
In a bowl, sift chickpea flour (besan) and add salt, red chili powder, turmeric, dhana-jitu, hing, and amchur powder. Mix well.
- 2
Gradually add 1/2 cup water (equal to the amount of chickpea flour) and mix until no lumps remain, creating a smooth batter.
- 3
Grease a pan or kadai with a little oil and pour in the batter. Add 2 tablespoons of water and mix well. Place it on low heat and stir continuously.
- 4
When the mixture thickens, cover and cook for 2-3 minutes. Open the lid, stir, and cover again for another 2-3 minutes.
Finally, turn off the heat. - 5
Pour the cooked mixture onto a greased plate and spread it evenly with a spatula. Let it cool.
- 6
Once cooled, knead the mixture well and shape it into a cylindrical roll.
- 7
Grease a sev maker or a mold with oil and place the roll inside. Press out small strands of sev onto a greased plate.
- 8
Tempting (Tadaka) :
- 9
Heat oil in a tempering pan, add mustard seeds, and let them splutter.
- 10
Add hing and roasted white sesame seeds to the pan, and prepare the tempering.
- 11
Drizzle the tempering over the sev strands on the plate, and sprinkle Kashmiri red chili powder on top.
- 12
Serve:
Serve the flavorful sev garnished with tempering and chili powder. Enjoy!
