Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).

Place the sugar in a skillet and let it melt; be careful not to burn it. Pour the caramel into the baking pan and spread it evenly.

Tear the bread into pieces and add the milk. Let it soak until the bread is well moistened.

In a bowl, mix the sugar, eggs, cinnamon, vanilla, and rum.

Combine both mixtures and stir. Add the raisins that have been soaked in rum.

Pour the mixture into the prepared pan.

Bake in a water bath at 350°F (180°C) for 45 minutes (baking time may vary depending on your oven). When a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, remove from the oven and let cool before unmolding.
