Air Fried Modak

Happy Ganesh Chaturthi 🙏
This is air fried modak !
It has a crispy and flacky crust and delicious coconut, sesame and cashew filling flavoured with Cardamom and nutmeg, lightly sweetened with jaggery.
Yummy to have ! Non oily, comparatively less in calories then deep fried Modak. Can be kept and enjoyed for longer period of time without the fear of getting spoilt soon.
Make it for the LORD and enjoy it with family and friends this Ganesh Chaturthi 🙏
This is Juhi ji’s recipe made with some minute changes and air fried instead of deep frying.

Steps
- 1
Filling preparation.
Heat ghee in the Kadai (preferably a thick iron Kadai or thick non stick Kadai / pan whatever you have).
Add in sesame seeds, when it starts to brown a bit, add in the cashews and desiccated coconut too and stir and mix well. Keep the flame from low to medium, adjusting as per need. - 2
When the Coconut starts browning, put off the flame and add in the jaggery powder, nutmeg and green cardamom powder and mix well. The jaggery powder, will start melting in the heat, if not put the flame on low and stir and cook till the jaggery melt. Pour this in a plate or bowl and let it cool completely.
- 3
Now prepare the dough.
Take a bowl add in the suji and maida and mix well. Add in ghee and mix well. - 4
Add in the milk slowly and knead into a soft dough. Cling wrap it and let it rest for atleast half an hour.
- 5
Making of Modak.
Divide the dough into 10 equal parts and make round balls. With the help of rolling pin roll out the dough balls into about 4 inches diameter puri. Wet the edges with water and pinch it with a gap around the circumference (of the Puri) and form a cup/bowl shape. Once done, put in 2-3 tsp of Coconut filling. - 6
Now bring in the edges together and form the conical shape of a Modak and place it on the Air fryer tray / bucket lined with baking paper brushed with ghee. Dab/ Brush ghee on the Modak, as you make so that it doesn’t dry up.
- 7
Once your air fryer tray/ bucket gets filled up. Air fry the Modak for 25 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius till it lightly browns up or becomes golden brown in color.
The temperature or time may vary depending on the type of Air fryer.
Finish up in batches depending on the size of your air fryer tray. Enjoy !
