Steps
- 1
Marinate chicken with all the ingredients mentioned under the title marination and set aside overnight for best results in a refrigerator well covered.
- 2
Heat mustard oil in a pan. Add the whole spices partially crushed for a lovely flavour and aroma. Fry all for a minute and then add the chopped onions. Saute until golden brown.
- 3
Also add chopped tomatoes and cook until soft. And finally add the well marinated chicken. Sear it on a medium high to high heat for about 6-7 minutes until the raw smell fades away. And the chicken changes the colour and looks well seared.
- 4
Let it cook now on a low heat for the next 4-5 minutes. And now is the time to add the beaten curd. When adding it, do it on a low heat or switch off the flame. After mixing it properly, switch on the gas and let it cook on a low heat for about 15-18 minutes.
- 5
Pour in water, reduce heat, and simmer until the chicken is tender and the gravy thickens. At this stage fried potatoes are added as well.
- 6
This is a gravy type dish. So keep the consistency accordingly. If needed, add hot water to adjust it. Garnish with lots of chopped coriander leaves. Serve it piping hot alongside both Rice and Rotis. Enjoy!
Tips
Marinating the Chicken overnight enhances the flavour and tenderness of the meat.
