Ingredients

Prep. :10 +Cook 20=Total ;30 minutes
2–3 people
  1. 1/2 cuprice
  2. 1/2 cuptoor dal (pigeon pea lentils)
  3. 1 cupmixed vegetables (green peas, tomato, capsicum, bottle gourd, carrot)
  4. 1 tablespoonghee
  5. 1/2 teaspooncumin seeds
  6. 1 inchGinger
  7. 1/2 teaspoonturmeric powder
  8. Salt to taste
  9. 4 cupswater
  10. Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
  11. Curd (yogurt), for serving

Steps

Prep. :10 +Cook 20=Total ;30 minutes
  1. 1

    Wash rice and toor dal well and soak for 10–15 minutes.

    Heat ghee in a pressure cooker or pot and add cumin seeds.

    Once they crackle, add the ginjer,chopped vegetables and saute lightly.

    Add soaked rice and dal,Add turmeric powder and salt followed by water. Mix well.

    Pressure cook for 3 whistles, or cook covered until soft and well cooked.

    Let the pressure release naturally. Garnish with fresh coriander.

    ∆ Ideal for post-party meals, sick days, or light dinners.
    ∆ Can be enjoyed with a spoon of ghee or plain curd.

Tips

∆ Use bottle gourd and carrot for a lighter, detox-friendly version.
∆ Adjust water for thinner or thicker consistency as preferred.
∆ Avoid extra spices to keep it gentle on digestion.
