Wash rice and green moong dal well. Soak in water for 10 minutes.

Heat oil or ghee in a pressure cooker. Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds; let them crackle.

Add curry leaves and asafoetida. Stir briefly.

Add 3 cups water, all spices, coconut powder, and salt. Bring to a boil.

Add soaked rice and dal. Mix well.

Pressure cook for 3-4 whistles, then turn off the heat.

Let the pressure release naturally. Open and mix gently.

Serve hot, topped with ghee. Enjoy with roasted papad.and Lemon Pickle.
Tips
You can add peas and other vegetables to this khichadi for extra flavor and nutrition.
