Ingredients

2 servings
  1. 1 cup(soaked overnight) Yellow mung dal
  2. 2 stalks(chopped) Spring onions
  3. 2 cloves(chopped) Garlic
  4. 1 tspCumin seeds
  5. 1 tsp(adjust to taste) Salt
  6. 2(chopped) Green chillies
  7. 2 tbsp(chopped) Coriander leaves
  8. 2 tbspChana flour (besan)
  9. 1/2 tspBaking powder
  10. for frying Oil

Steps

  1. 1

    Drain soaked mung dal completely and transfer to a mixer jar.

  2. 2

    Add spring onions, garlic, cumin seeds, salt, green chillies, and coriander leaves.

  3. 3

    Pulse grind coarsely (do not over-grind).

  4. 4

    Transfer mixture to a bowl. Add chana flour and mix well.

  5. 5

    Just before frying, add baking powder and combine.

  6. 6

    Heat oil in a pan. Shape mixture into moderately big vadas.

  7. 7

    Fry vadas in hot oil until golden and crisp. Avoid making very small vadas or else they get chewy
