  • 1Banana flower .
  • 3 tspscoconut Grated .
  • 1 tspOil .
  • 4chilly Red .
  • 1/2 tspJeerakam .
  • 1/2 tspRice .
  • pinchTurmeric powder . A
  • To tasteSalt .
  • A few strandsCurry leaves .

Steps

  1. 1

    Peel off the first few petals of banana flower

  2. 2

    Cut the remaining into small pieces

  3. 3

    Add turmeric powder,grated coconut,salt and jeerakam and mix thoroughly.

  4. 4

    In a pan heat oil,add the rice,chilly and curry leaves.once it splutters put the banana flower mixed with coconut and rest of the ingredients.Stir well and  keep it covered in low flame.stir occasionally.once done remove from fire.koombu Thoran

A speech pathologist by profession, married to an Audiologist with two kids who are not my best admirers and critics of my cooking is how I would like to define myself. Me, though born in Kerala, was brought up in Tamil Nadu, spent my prime youth in Karnataka where I did my professional course, got married and came back to my birth place in 1978 to setup the first full fledged Speech & Hearing clinic of Kerala. My passion is to cook veg delicacies (for my husband is a vegetarian) from these three states.
