Ingredients

Prep time -10 mins, Cooking -20 mins
4-5 servings
  • 1Kanchkola or Raw Banana
  • 1Ilish Tail
  • 2green chillies chopped
  • 1 tspred chilli powder
  • 2 Tbsprice flour
  • 1 tspsugar
  • 1/4 tspsalt
  • 1/2 cupoil to fry
  • 1 cuphot water
  • Kofta
  • 1/2 cupyogurt
  • 5-6cashew nuts
  • 3-4green chillies
  • 1 Tbsppoppy seed or Posto
  • 1/8 tspsalt
  • 1 tspsugar
  • 1 tspred chilli powder
  • 1/2 cupwater
  • 2-3green chillies chopped
  • 3-4 Tbspoil
  • 1/4 tspgaram masala powder
  • 1 tspghee or unadulterated butter to garmish

Steps

Prep time -10 mins, Cooking -20 mins
  1. 1

    In a bowl add water, add 1/2 tsp turmeric powder and 1 tsp salt, add washed Ilish or Hilsa tail, Kanchkola or Raw Banana and boil. Once boiled, discard the water, debone the fish and peel the raw banana or Kanchkola.

    Add to the Kanchkola and Ilish red chilli powder, rice flour, chopped green chillies, salt and sugar and mash together well. Form balls or Kofta

    In a pan heat oil and fry the Kofta on medium flame and set aside

    Kofta - in a blender add cashew nuts, green chillies, poppy seed or Posto and yogurt to blend smooth.

    In a pan heat oil, add the poppy seed - yogurt paste, stir on medium flame for 2 mins, add salt and sugar, red chilli powder, chopped green chillies and stir for 1 min

    Add koftas and coat them well with the poppy seed - yogurt paste,

    Add garam masala powder, drizzle ghee on top

  8. 8

    Serve with steamed rice and enjoy 😊

Tips

Debone the Ilish or Hilsa carefully as it’s a bony fish
Keep the flame on medium - low when frying the koftas
