Steps
- 1
Cut the kunafa pastry and spread it in a 16- or 18-inch baking pan, depending on your preference. The smaller the pan, the thicker the kunafa will be.
- 2
Mix the clarified butter or ghee with the kunafa and press it evenly into the buttered pan using your hands to prevent sticking.
- 3
After making the first layer, add the mixed nuts, then cover with the second layer of kunafa and press down firmly.
- 4
Add a tablespoon of clarified butter or ghee on top for a glossy finish.
- 5
Place in a preheated oven at 300°F (150°C) on low heat and bake for 10 minutes.
- 6
Flip the kunafa onto a plate larger than the pan to turn it over.
- 7
Return it to the oven to bake the other side.
- 8
Pour the syrup over the hot kunafa while the syrup is warm so it absorbs well.
- 9
Drain off any excess syrup.
- 10
Serve after iftar or suhoor.
- 11
You can serve it plain or with whipped cream or clotted cream. Enjoy!
