Ingredients

  • 2.2 lbs (1 kilogram)kataifi pastry (shredded phyllo dough)
  • Cream (see my previous recipes)
  • Simple syrup (see my previous recipes)
  • Pistachios for garnish
  • Oil or clarified butter (as needed)

Steps

  1. 1

    Spread a layer of kataifi pastry in a pan and cover it with oil or clarified butter, as you prefer.

  2. 2

    Fry over the stove until the bottom is golden brown, then transfer to the oven to brown the top.

  3. 3

    Drain the oil and place the layer on a serving plate. Then, add another layer of kataifi pastry to the pan and repeat the process.

  4. 4

    Once the kataifi layers have cooled, place the first layer on a serving plate, spread the cream on top, then add the second layer over the cream.

  5. 5

    Pour the simple syrup over the top and garnish with pistachios or as desired.
