Soak the fava beans in water for 8 hours, changing the soaking water every hour.

Rinse the lentils and soak them an hour before cooking.

Cut a small onion into four pieces and leave the lemon whole to prevent the foul from darkening.

Drain the ingredients well.

Place them in a cooking pot or a slow cooker and add warm water.

Ensure the water covers the beans by about 1 1/4 inches (3 cm). Cover and bring to a boil. After boiling, reduce the heat significantly and let it simmer for about 4 hours.

After cooking, place some foul in a dish and add salt, cumin, black pepper, and olive oil.

Serve hot. Store any leftovers in the freezer until needed.
