Ingredients

  1. 1 2/3 cupsflour
  2. 1 1/2 cupssugar
  3. 2/3 cupspecial dark cocoa
  4. 1 1/2 tspbaking soda
  5. 1 tsphimalayan salt
  6. 2eggs
  7. 1/2 cupbutter softened
  8. 1 1/2 cupsbuttermilk
  9. 1 tspmadagascar vanilla
  10. 1 cupdark chocolate chips
  11. 4-6 cupsTricia's Whipped Dark Chocolate Mousse- see recipe

Cooking Instructions

    Preheat oven to 350°

    Grease and flour pans (2 - 9 x 1 1/2" rounds or 1 - 9 x 13 rectangular)

    Cut Wax paper to fit and place inside the bottom of the pan

  4. 4

    Mix dry ingredients together except the chocolate chips and add wet ingredients except Mousse

  5. 5

    Beat on low for 30 seconds scraping bowl constantly

  6. 6

    Beat on high for 3 minutes scraping bowl occasionally

  7. 7

    Stir in chocolate chips

  8. 8

    Pour the batter into the pans

  9. 9

    Bake for 30 to 35 minutes for rounds and 40 to 45 minutes for rectangular pan until wooden toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean

    Remove from oven and let cool for 5 minutes

    Remove from pan onto cooling rack and cool completely

    Make Mousse Recipe While the cake cools

  13. 13

    Assemble and frost cake with the Mousse adding a layer of Mousse in between the layers of cake.
