Mashed Potatoes (homemade)

GOOD TIP.... but if adding gravy on top of mashed potatoes the sour cream will make them runny with the gravy... :-)
my suggestion is to add 2T and mix... if u are going to add gravy there should b a stiff peak.... :-)

Steps

Peel and cube potatoes. rinse well.

put potatoes in pot and cover with water. add about 1 teaspoon of salt to water.

boil potatoes until tender. drain potatoes.

put a stick of butter in the bottom of mixing bowl.

put hot potatoes on butter and let butter melt.

take mixer and mix until potatoes are 'mashed'. add a dash of milk. mix... add another dash of milk until it's the consistancy you want...

add salt and pepper to potatoes.

* we like ours so that when we remove the beaters there are peaks. so we're done after the first dash of milk...
