Ingredients

  1. 2large boneless skinless chicken breasts (about 1.5 lbs worth)
  2. 1 1/2 cupsketchup
  3. 3/4 cupbrown sugar
  4. 1/4 cupcold water
  5. 1 tsponion powder
  6. 1 tsphickory flavored liquid smoke
  7. 1 tspapple cider vinegar (white vinegar will do)
  8. 1/4 tspcrushed red pepper flakes
  9. 5-6 dashesworcestershire sauce
  10. Salt and pepper to taste (optional, I didn't use any)

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Place chicken in the bottom of your slow cooker. Wisk together all other ingredients. Pour evenly over chicken.

  2. 2

Cook on low 6 hrs. Shred chicken (you can do it right in the slow cooker). Stir shreds into the sauce.

  3. 3

Continue on low 1-2 more hrs to really flavor the chicken. Serve on toasted buns. Enjoy!

  4. 4

    See notes below ⤵

  5. 5

NOTE: You can totally use bottled bbq sauce instead of the sauce ingredients listed. I'd go with about 1 1/2 cups sauce + 1/4 cup water. I just always have everything on hand to make homemade sauce and prefer it over bottled.

Cooking is a hobby and a passion of mine. I love cooking and trying new and different things. The best thing about cooking? I get to prepare delicious food for my family and friends that they (almost) always love! Lol.Many of my recipes are experiments in what I could make with what was available at the time. Many are simply my version of classic and/or popular dishes. A few are variations of recipes I have found elsewhere online but adjusted to our tastes. No matter what, though, each of my recipes is tried and tested before posting and I hope you find as much joy in preparing them as I do.

Thank you Stephanie, I make this with pork butt roast, the only way I make my Sliders, the sauce is soooo wonderful.
