Got really bored of studying so made myself a little something. Eating+studying not a bad combination huh 😜 keep munching like a cow
*nommm nommm*

This recipe is quite popular in India. We usually make it when there is an occasion or during Diwali festivals. There are number of other Indian snacks made from all purpose flour. Many make at their homes and simply serve with a hot cup of tea.

Steps

30 mins
  1. 1

~For making the dough: -Pace the flour in a large mixing bowl. Add salt, carom seeds and baking powder, mix thoroughly. - Now melt the butter/ or ghee and add into the flour, add water(be sure not to add the water too quickly, you don't want your dough to be sticky). -start kneading and pounding the dough until it softens. The finished dough should be soft in texture and stretchy so that you'll be able to roll it out perfectly. Keep it aside and let it rest for 10minutes.

  2. 2

~For design: -roughly divide the dough into small size balls. -take one ball and roll it with the help of a rolling pin and board. -cut the flattened dough into the shape and size you want with the help of a sharp knife.

  3. 3

~For frying: Heat oil in a pan and deep fry the namkee till it becomes golden brown and place it in a kitchen paper towel. Its easier if you fry them in batches. ~For baking: (the healthier version) - Pre-heat oven at 180°C. Lightly grease the baking tray with oil and bake them for 15-20 minutes.

  4. 4

Serve with a hot cup of tea. Enjoy! *you can also store your namkeens in an air tight container it stays fresh up to 1-2 months.
