Yam is a sweet staple food that can be cooked and eaten in a different ways. One delicious way of cooking your yam is making a fingerlicking porridge out of it. Here is just my simple way of making porridge.. Lets cook!
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Start by preparing your ingredients.. Like grinding/choppin your pepper, deboning your smoked fish, slicing the scent leaves and so on. I like to do this cause it fastens the cooking process and keeps you organised and relaxed during cooking.
- 2
Now, Peel your yam nicely, cut into cubes, wash them thoroughly, beautifully arrange them in a clean pot and pour in some cups of water to slightly cover the top of the yam to start cooking.
- 3
Add salt to the pot of yam and leave to boil.
- 4
Immediately it starts boiling, add all of your ingredients aforementioned excluding the scent leaves and cover to boil for 15-20 minutes.
- 5
As the mixture gets cooking, and the Aroma fills the air.. check for taste 😜and adjust adequately.
- 6
Make sure you cook for as long as the yam becomes soft because you are going to be mashing it. This can vary depending on the kind of yam used.
- 7
When the mixture thickens and the yam gets soft, softly sprinkle your scent leaves all around it. I love this part cause scent leaf is my favorite leaf next to bitterleaf. It adds so much sweetness and aroma to your dish.
- 8
Stir well and mash the mixture with a turning stick (if you have) or jejely use your cooking spoon. If the yam is soft enough, you can do anyting with it.
- 9
After mashing well as you prefer.. Tada🙌 you have your YAM PORRIDGE!
- 10
Serve it hot or leave to cool with any protein of your choice.

Mango Daliya/ Mango porridge Mango Daliya/ Mango porridge
Mango Dalia is a sweet porridge made with broken wheat, milk and mangoes. My mother used to make this sweet porridge for breakfast and I used to save some and had it after dinner as a dessert. It is a great way to use mangoes which are very healthy and nutritious. I don't use any sweetner for this Dalia as mango puree provides the sweetness and creamy texture as well. But sometimes the mangoes are not sweet enough and you have to add a little sugar or any other sweetner to enhance the taste. This porridge is a great way to start your day. Broken wheat provides all the benefits of a grain, mangoes provide the nutrients of a fruit and milk is a great source of calcium and protein. Together they make a complete healthy breakfast meal. It is good for growing kids also. This one pot meal can be prepared in advance and can be kept in the refrigerator for 6-7 hours. It tastes best when served chilled. #CookClick Sumeet Kaur (Recipes and more by Sumi) -

Mushroom Porridge Mushroom Porridge
I use short grain type. There is also a certain depth of flavor infused in the ingredients and rice porridge. I’m guessing the porridge is cooked in a stock instead of water and the ingredients are cooked separately before adding into the porridge. Not forgetting the generous usage of my favorite aromatic toasted sesame oil. Chef Marie Ruth Roman -

And there are no distribution of Ramadhan porridge by mosques.I felt it would be nice to attempt this porridge myself, to serve my fasting hubby and kids. However, it was challenging because I forgot how the usual mosque's porridge tasted like, and I had to cook without tasting.Thank God, I came across LinsFood's recipe: https://www.linsfood.com/bubur-lambuk-ramadan-recipe/I am not sure if I can tag her.. So you may want to attempt hers if mine seems complicated. However the ingredients are all the same, just different in some of the quantities. And oh! My garnishing was unfortunately very depressing.. because the supermarkets here ran out of coriander leaves.. 😖 So red chillies was the best I could dig out from my fridge.Ramadhan Kareem to all Muslims! 🤲😘 Cooking Ibu -

Rich and So Yummy: Chinese Rice Porridge With Scallops and Chicken Rich and So Yummy: Chinese Rice Porridge With Scallops and Chicken
I wanted to eat something piping hot, mild and yummy. And, I found a packet of dried scallops from the depths of the freezer! It'll be very hot, so make sure to blow on it before you eat it up!If you have cold, eat your fill of this warming porridge and go to bed.You don't want the meat to become garlic flavored. You're just using it to eliminate the gamy flavor of chicken. The finer you cut the garlic pieces, the more it will smell like garlic. You can get all kinds of flavors from it, depending on the way you slice it up. So try it in different ways in various dishes. Recipe by pegupepepe cookpad.japan
