This is a traditionnal Kyrghyz meal. I had the chance to do an internship in Kyrgyzstan and i discovered so many dishes i didn't know. This recipe was given by a kyrghyz woman.
She said that you can use potatoes in your mantys (картошка манты).
Enjoy this mantys with your friends because that how you eat them in Kyrgyzstan ;)

Ingredients

8 servings
  1. for 8 servings
  2. 500 gramsflour
  3. 1water
  4. 1 kgsheep meat
  5. 500 gramssheep fat (any kind of fat is good too)
  6. 5green onions
  7. 1salt (if needed)
  8. 1black pepper
  9. 1cayenne pepper (optional )
  10. 1eggs

Steps

  1. 1

    Mix the flour with the egg and a little bit of water. Add water until it takes the consistency of a dough.

  2. 2

    Take the dough and create as many "squares" as you can.

  3. 3

    On an other side, cut the meat and the fat in little pieces.

  4. 4

    Now you can add some pepper, cayenne pepper (if you like spicy dishes ^^)and salt in the meat. Mix all the ingredients, you can use your hands ;)

    Add the onions slighty cut in your preparation.

  6. 6

    Now, take your squares of dough and put some meat in the middle of the square.

  7. 7

    Fold the corner to the center. And pinch two corners together. It may look like a manty (look at the photo behind)

    When all the mantys are ready, cook them usimg a steamer. At least 30min, check them frequently.

    You can serve them with a tomato sauce (spicy or not ^^)
