Ingredients

  1. Dough
  2. 1 cupflour
  3. 4 tbspvegetable oil
  4. 6 tbspwater
  5. 1 pinchsalt
  6. Filling
  7. 2 1/2 cupmashed potatoes
  8. 1egg
  9. 1salt and pepper
  10. 1melted butter
  11. 1small grated onion (optional)

    For the dough

  2. 2

    Divide flour into 2 equal portions, (1/2 cup each).

  3. 3

    Put half of the flour into a mixing bowl and stir in oil with a fork.

  4. 4

    Add water and salt and mix until the mixture forms a dough.

  5. 5

    Toss on a floured board, work in remaining flour, and knead until the dough is smooth and elastic.

  6. 6

    Cover and chill for at least 1 hour.

  7. 7

    For the filling.

  8. 8

    Combine mashed potatoes, egg, salt and pepper.

  9. 9

    Fry onion in butter until soft but not brown, and add to potato mixture.

  10. 10

    Roll the dough out on a board as thin as possible

  11. 11

    Pull and stretch it into a long rectangle.

  12. 12

    Cut into 3 inch circles.

  13. 13

    Put a tablespoon of filing onto each circle.

  14. 14

    Draw the edges of the circle together over the filling and punch together to seal.

  15. 15

    Brush with Chicken Fat, butter or vegetarian margerine

  16. 16

    Bake on a greased baking sheet at 350°F Fahrenheit about 45 minutes until dough is well browned..
