Ingredients

1/2 csoftened butter or margarine
1/2 cgranulated sugar
1/2 cfancy molasses
1egg yolk (large)
2 call purpose flour
1/2 tspbaking powder
1/2 tspbaking soda
1 tspground cinnamon
1 tspground ginger
1/2 tspground cloves
1/4 tspnutmeg
1/4 tspsalt
FROSTING - 1 large egg white ; 2 c icing sugar

Cream butter, sugar, molasses and egg yolk together until light

Add next 8 ingredients. Mix well. Wrap in plastic (I use wax paper) and chill at least 1 hour. Roll out. Cut into shapes with cookie cutters. Bake in 350 F (175 C) oven for 10-15 min. Cool

ICING - Beat egg white with spoon in medium bowl. Beat in as much icing sugar as needed until icing will hold its shape. Ice cookies. Makes 12-16 gingerbread men cookies or a variety of shapes
