Steps
- 1
Prepare all your ingredients
- 2
Start with the caramelized onions. Place them on a thick greased pan on very low heat. Keep stirring occasionally for about 30 minutes.
- 3
Combine the ground meat, ginger, garlic, onions, spices, breadcrumbs, salt and the egg and knead until well combined and sticky.
- 4
Scoop into about 6 sections, roll into a ball then flatten into a patty. Sprinkle some more salt before frying
- 5
For the onions; keep stirring occasionally until translucent. At this point add a pinch of salt and a teaspoon of sugar to help with the caramelization. Ensure you stir so that they don’t turn crispy.
- 6
Fry the burger patties on a well greased pan for about 3 minutes on each side then add on the cheese towards the end.
- 7
Assemble the burger once the cheese is well melted. Toast the buns on the pan that prepared the meat patties.
- 8
Add a generous amount of the caramelized onions on the beef patty, the sliced tomatoes, lettuce and any sauce.
