In a large sauce pan saute mushrooms, onion, garlic and potatoes in half cup of butter on medium heat for 15 minutes.

Transfer to large stock pot then add all other ingredients, bring to a boil for 20 minutes stirring often. Then simmer on low for 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Adjust for desired taste.

remove bay leaves before serving.
