This is my yia yia's recipe from when I was little. The original calls for cognac but find me someone who actually owns that! We used bourbon, because any good Charlestonian would.
Don't forget to add the flouri, or coin, in the batter for good luck!

Mix yolks, sugar and butter until soft, about five minutes

Add the orange juice, zest and bourbon

Mix baking powder and flour well and add to above mix SLOWY by hand
- 4
Preheat oven to 350
- 5
Beat egg whites with 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar. use hand mixer, beat until stiff peaks, about 5 minutes

Mix egg whites into batter by hand

Pour batter into springfoam pan and bake for 60 min. Test for doneness with toothpick
