Ingredients

12 servings
  • 1/3 cupbrown sugar packed
  • 1/3 cupold fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 tbspall purpose flour
  • 1/4 tspground cinnamon
  • 1 dashsalt
  • 2 tbspbutter melted
  • 2 tbspchopped walnuts
  • 9 ozall purpose flour, about 2 cups
  • 1/2 tspbaking soda
  • 1/2 tspbaking powder
  • 1/2 tspsalt
  • 5 tbspbutter, softened
  • 2/3 cupgranulated sugar
  • 3eggs, large
  • 1 tspvanilla extract
  • 1 cupbuttermilk, fat free
  • 1bakers spray with flour

Steps

  1. 1

    oven at 350

  2. 2

    prepare topping by combining first 5 ingredients in a medium bowl

  3. 3

    add 2 tablespoons melted butter, stirring until well combined.

  4. 4

    stir in nuts. set aside

  5. 5

    to prepare bread, weigh or lightly spoon 9 ounces flour into dry measuring cup, level with knife.

  6. 6

    combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, and one half tsp. salt in bowl, Stir well with whisk

  7. 7

    combine 5 tablespoons, butter, and granulated sugar in large bowl.

  8. 8

    beating at low speed, add flour mixture and buttermilk alternately to sugar mixture

  9. 9

    . add eggs 1 at time, beating well after each addition , beat in vanilla

  10. 10

    spread half of batter into 9 x 5 loaf pan coated with baking spray

  11. 11

    sprinkle with half of topping mixture

  12. 12

    spread remaining batter, swirl

  13. 13

    sprinkle remaining topping on top of batter. bake 350 for 50 minutes or until wood pick inserted in center comes out with moist crumbs clinging

  14. 14

    cool 10 minutes in pan on wire rack.

    remove from pan, cool completely on rack
