Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).

Grease a 600ml gratin dish with a little of the butter.

Place the remaining butter, brown sugar and eggs in a large bowl and sift in the flour, cocoa and baking powder. Beat together until smooth.

Spoon the mixture into the prepared dish and spread the top level.

For the sauce, place the cocoa and sugar in a bowl and mix in a little of the measurement water, a little at a time, and mix until smooth.

Pour the sauce over the pudding mixture and place in the preheated oven for 15 minutes or until the sauce has sunk to the bottom of the dish and the pudding is well risen.

Decorate it with icing sugar and serve it with ice cream or cream.
