Ingredients

14 servings
  • 4 cupmed ground onion
  • 4 cupmed cabbage head
  • 4 cupgreen tomatos (about 10)
  • 12green peppers
  • 6red sweet peppers
  • 1/2 cupsalt
  • 6 cupsugar
  • 1 tspcelery seed
  • 2 tbspmustard seed
  • 1 1/2 tsptumeric
  • 4 cupcider vinegar
  • 2 cupwater

Steps

  1. 1

    Mix onion, cabbage, tomatos, peppers, and salt. Let sit over night.

  2. 2

    Rinse and drain (squeeze out) mixture. Put into large pan.

  3. 3

    Add all other ingredients to pan. Heat to just boiling.

  4. 4

    Simmer 3 min. Seal in hot jars.

  5. 5

    Makes about 14 pints. Takes 2 days to prepare.

This recipe was in a Grange cookbook from the 60s. A very good recipe!
