Cream together sugar and butter; add egg and cocoa liquid. Mix soda and boiling water. Add this, flour and baking powder, mix well. Pour into greased 9? square pan (the batter will be thin).

Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in centre comes out clean.

This cake doubles well. Bake in a 9X13" pan or a bundt pan for 40-50
minutes.
