Soak the chana dal for 1 hour.

Pressure cook it with salt turmeric and red chilli powder.Add salt.

Fry the coconut till golden brown and keep it aside.

Heat ghee in a kadhai. Add red chillies Cummin seeds one bay leaf and the whole garam marsala.when it start to crackle add boiled dal into it.

Let it boil on low flame for 3 to four minutes.

When the dal start boiling add coconut ginger paste sugar and garam marsala powder.

Cholar dal is usually made thick.

Serve hot with little ghee.
