Hummus - No Tahini

This is my go to recipe. I make this a couple times a week. It's simple. I always have the ingredients in the kitchen. This makes great dip for crackers(Triscuits Garden Herb are my favorite), flat bread, spread on a bagel, toast or pretzels. I use this as spread on sandwiches in place of cheese and mayo. It's full of protein and fiber and low fat if you keep the olive oil out. I don't really notice a difference in flavor. Double it up and bring this as a last minute pot luck dish!

Ingredients

  1. 1 cangarbonzo beans
  2. 1 1/2 tspground cumin
  3. 1 tbsplemon juice
  4. 1/2 tspsea salt or regular salt
  5. 1/2 tspsesame oil
  6. 1 clovegarlic
  7. 1 tbspolive oil (optional)
  8. 2 dashcayenne pepper (optional)

Steps

  1. 1

    Drain garbonzo beans. Reserving bean juice.

  2. 2

    Place all ingrediants in blender + 3 tablespoons of bean juice.

  3. 3

    Pulse and blend periodically stirring the muxture so everything gets blended into a thick paste. Add a little bean juice from the can if needed.

  4. 4

    Enjoy.
